Goodnight Now Little Sister

Goodnight now little sister, let me tuck you into bed
As the fireflies circle your eyes and the dreams enter your head
Well your momma’s thinking of you, you’re her sweet Rosetta stone
So she sent me here to sing to you till your daddy’s car comes home

There’s people screaming, fires burning, the roads are running red
And your daddy found a job at a tire store but today they found your daddy dead

I can’t believe it how they dragged him out of there
There were people crying, red lights flying everywhere, everywhere
Let me tell you how it happened while you’re still too young to know
About the terror waiting for you baby everywhere you go

There’s people screaming, fires burning, the roads are running red
And your daddy went to work in a tire store but today they shot your daddy dead
Yeah your daddy went to work in a tire store but today they shot your daddy dead

Well goodnight now little sister, there’s a million rivers more
Like an endless line of soldiers marching, marching off to war
Yeah I hate the men who did this but what I hate even more
Is there’s no way of protecting you from the guns outside your door

There’s people screaming, fires burning, the roads are running red
And your daddy went to work in a tire store but today they shot your daddy dead

Yeah there’s people screaming, fires burning, the roads are running red
And your daddy went to work in a tire store but today they shot your daddy dead
